Mike Bowden
CIO Advisor, Leading Edge Forum

Mike Bowden is a CIO Advisor for Leading Edge Forum and a core member of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) instructor team, helping clients drive greater business value through powerful business relationship management.  He is also a global IT leader and CIO Sounding Board Advisor providing transformational consulting and advisory services to global companies.

Mike has had an unusual career that includes being a Marketing Analyst and Global Business Service Leader and developing deep expertise in manufacturing and supply chain business process. He has experience in truly global companies and has become particularly skilled working at the intersection between business, shared services and IT strategy, and then leading transformations that include sourcing, organization, financial and technology streams.

Most recently, Mike was the Group CIO at Anglo American a leading, global, diversified mining company. After initiating the standardization, integration and globalization of the IT infrastructure he led a feasibility study on the implementation of Accounting and Employee Services and was subsequently appointed Head of Shared Services in addition to his role as Group CIO.

Prior to Anglo American, Mike was the European IT Director at Reckitt Benckiser where he standardised the transactional systems environment across the region and delivered industry leading IT unit cost performance.

Mike began his career at Procter & Gamble.  Over an 18 year international career he had a variety of country, region and global roles in IT, and developed specialist skills in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Marketing. Creating global business innovation with technology was the key to success in a number of his later assignments, including interactive marketing and in-store technology deployment.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Operational Research from the University of Lancaster.
