Rethinking Management and Employee Engagement – the Role of Enterprise Technologies
This position paper explores the potential of the concept of corporate ecology[1] in helping management better leverage different generations of information technology to improve organisational performance. In taking a holistic view of the interdependence of technology, performance metrics, and the management of human resource, we will provide a framework to nurture and enrich these rare resources in building a foundation for the future.
[1] Corporate ecology is an approach that encourages managers to view their organisations as territories that have been staked out in particular contexts, experiences and visions. Thus innovative architectures, practices and processes are bounded by previous experience and conditioned by management’s understanding of the topography and the boundaries of their organisation. Corporate ecology challenges management to survey the different dimensions of this territory to build for sustainable future growth.
