Value Centric Leadership

 

The problem: Current organizations are mainly focused on task. Value focus is a charade that ends when a project is approved. Reaping the benefits is weak/non-existent. Fixed budgets are evil and destroy value. Metrics focus on the short term and are easily measurable. Value-based decision making is weak, and non-existent in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) world.

The solution: Work to switch emphasis from task to value. Strengthen benefits realization capability. Build common language and experiment with techniques to discuss value in a VUCA world, e.g. platform economics, real option valuation, scenario analysis.
