Vijay Gurbaxani is Associate Dean and Professor of Information Systems and Management at the Graduate School of Management, University of California, Irvine, where he is also the Director of the Center for Research on IT and Organization Industry/University Consortium. He received an integrated 5-year Master“s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and received his Master“s and Ph.D. in Business Administration from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester, New York. Professor Gurbaxani has been a visiting scholar at the business schools of Stanford University and MIT.
He focuses on analyzing how firms can exploit information technologies to enable and execute business strategies, on valuing information technology investments, and on developing and evaluating business-driven strategies for the sourcing of information services. His research is supported by funds from the National Science Foundation and from industry. In 2002, he received the Outsourcing World Achievement Award in the Academic category from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Michael Corbett and Associates.
